How do I Change the Ink in my Canon MG2120 Printer?
- Ensure that your printer is on.
- Open the printer cover.
- Next, open the printer output tray for paper, then the output cover.
- The cartridge carriage will automatically move so wait for it to completely stop moving before you proceed.
- To release the empty ink cartridge from the cartridge lock lever, push the lever down until you hear a click sound.
- Get your new Canon MG2120 ink cartridge. Open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case it leaks as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges.
- Remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Insert the Canon PIXMA 2120 ink on the appropriate slot for its color. You should hear a snap indicating that it's locked in place.
- Close the cartridge lock lever by pushing it up to lock the cartridge in place .
- Close the printer output cover for paper.
- Close the printer cover.

- There are different printer models under the Canon Pixma printer series and each printer model uses different types of ink cartridges. For Canon PIXMA MG2120 printer, it uses the standard yield Canon PG-240 black and CL-241 tricolor, high yield Canon PG-240XL black and CL-241XL tricolor, and the extra high yield Canon PG-240XXL black ink cartridge. For you to know what ink your printer uses, check the printer ink that came with your printer as the ink model number should be indicated on it.
- What is the difference between Canon 240XL and 240XXL?
- Canon PG-240XXL black ink is the extra high yield version which means it has more ink and can print more pages than the high yield Canon PG-240XL but both ink are of the same size. If you print more often, we highly recommend using the extra high yield ink cartridge as you can save more in the longer run.
