How to change Epson XP-850 ink cartridges on printer?
- Make sure that the printer is turned on and the CD/DVD tray is not inside the printer.
- Raise the scanner.
- The ink cartridge carrier will move and settle for cartridge replacement position.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Loosen the ink cartridge holder by pressing the tab, then extract the cartridge vertically.
- Get your new CompAndSave Epson XP-850 ink cartridge. Open the cartridge over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case of a powder leak as sometimes, factories tend to overfill cartridges. Avoid touching the bottom part of the cartridge, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Install your Epson 850 ink cartridge to its respective slot. Insert the ink cartridge head into the ink cartridge holder first. Then, press the cartridge's bottom down until it snaps into place.
- Lower the scanner unit to close. The print head will move and the machine will start the ink charging process. Let this process finish on its own.
Most Common Epson XP-850 Ink Cartridges Questions
- Do all Epson printers use the same ink cartridges?
- It depends as not all Epson printers use the same ink cartridge. To know what type of ink your Epson printer uses, just check the manual that came with the printer. You may also check the existing ink cartridge that is in your printer, in front of it is a label or a sticker with the model number. This model number is used to distinguish the type of ink you should purchase, it is usually a set of numbers of a combination of alphanumeric characters.
- Can I print if one cartridge is empty?
- Some Epson printers allow users to print with only black ink when the color ink runs out. This is a temporary measure called Black Print mode. This can only be done in a short period of time and varies depending on the documents printed and frequency of usage. It would stop printing when it exceeds the duration allotted for this setting. That is why it is recommended to always have both the black and color cartridge available on your printer to avoid downtime in printing.
