Canon TR4500 Ink Cartridge Replacement Guide

  1. Check to see if the printer is turned on. Then open the front cover of the printer.
  2. The carriage for the cartridges will move automatically; please wait for it to completely stop before proceeding.
  3. Lightly press the ink cartridge until you hear a click, then pull it out of the printer.
  4. Get your new CompAndSave TR4500 Canon ink cartridge, and open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case it leaks, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges. Make sure to touch the black plastic part only, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
  5. Insert the Canon PIXMA TR4500 ink cartridge in a slanting position into its respective slot until you hear a click, indicating that it is firmly seated.
  6. Close the front cover.

What ink cartridge do I need for Canon PIXMA TR4500?

Canon PIXMA TR4500 printer uses the standard yield Canon PG-245 black and Canon CL-246 tri-color ink cartridges. This printer is also compatible with the high yield Canon PG-245XL black and Canon CL-246XL tri-color ink cartridges. Can I use Canon 245 instead of 245XL?

Yes, you can. Canon PG-245 and Canon PG-245XL have the same printer compatibility. The only difference between the two is the high yield Canon PG-245XL can print up to 300 pages, while the standard yield Canon PG-245 can only print up to 180 pages at 5% coverage.

Is Canon 245 and 246 the same?

No, they are not the same. Canon PG-245 is black and can only be installed on the black slot in your printer. The Canon CL-246, on the other hand, is tri-color which is intended mostly for photo printing and can only be installed in the tri-color slot of your printer.
