[MAIN_KW] FAQ
- Why is Brother toner so expensive?
- The research and development of technology to produce high-quality ink and toners, according to OEM ink and toner producers, is the reason for the high cost of these cartridges. It is important to remember that there are generic cartridges available that meet OEM standards and cost less than their brand-name counterparts. The ink and toner cartridges from CompAndSave are compatible and replacement brands that are designed to meet or surpass OEM specifications. The same print quality and page output are therefore possible without spending a fortune. Please remember that using replacement, generic, or remanufactured ink won't ever void the warranty on your printer.
- Can Brother LaserJet toner cartridges be refilled?
Yes, Brother toner cartridges are refillable given that it is the genuine one and with the right set of tools; however, it is not recommended for first timers since you might need to replace some parts of the toner or drum unit as well.
Toner consists of different parts such as rolling gears, cleaning blades, etc., and these parts worn out over time that can cause noise when printing, low-quality printouts, and even leakage inside the printer. Another thing to look into is the imaging drum. This holds the image before the toner powder is applied to the paper. Just like the toner, parts of the imaging drum also wear and tear over time.
With this being said, you can indeed try refilling your genuine empty toner cartridges. However, if the print quality is still poor or is not being recognized by your printer at all even after refilling the toner cartridge, this may be due to some parts of the toner or drum that needs replacement too.
