The HP 96 cartridge is supposed to be the high capacity version of the HP cartridge with this form factor. We are not getting any number of pages close to what a HC cartridge would print. However, this cartridge is economical, performs without hickups, and ships fast from C&S. Recommend you purchase an extra one as a backup.

Items shipped within a couple of days and got to east coast quick. Installed immediately, it worked and still going strong. Got (4) cartridges for the cost of (1) HP. And since I bought (4) shipping was free. Wanted to buy American but I can't just throw money away. HP must think extortion is OK. Thanks CompAndSave.

While these cartridges worked right away in my HP Deskjet 5940 printer ("Old Reliable" - it has taken a number of lickings and kept on ticking), they do not last long. The first one only lasted about 4 months and the second one lasted less than that. The ones from HP lasted me about a year and a half. I can remove and shake this cartridge and get a few more pages out of it but you shouldn't have to do that. HP doesn't make these cartridges anymore so it looks like I will have to get a new printer just because cartridges for this one are unavailable. I'm old school - if I buy something, I expect to use it until it falls apart.
