How do I change the ink cartridge in my Brother MFC-J895DW?

  1. Open the ink cartridge cover. Make sure the LCD shows Cannot Print (Replace BK Ink) or B&W Print Only.
  2. To unlock the used ink cartridges, press down the release lever.
  3. Get your new CompAndSave Brother J895DW ink cartridge. Open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case it leaks, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill the ink cartridges. Make sure to touch the black plastic part only, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color along with the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
  4. Gently insert the new Brother J895DW printer ink cartridge into the right slot until it snaps lock into place.
  5. Once the ink cartridges are installed, close the ink cartridge cover.
