Most Common Canon PIXMA G1220 Ink Bottles Questions

Are all Canon Pixma inks the same?
No, they're not. Canon Pixma printers use different kinds or models of ink cartridges depending on their features and functionality. To know the model number of the cartridge your Pixma printer is using, you may check the user's manual that came with your printer. You may also check the existing cartridge that you're using on your printer. In front or on the side is a label or sticker with the model number, which is usually consisted of alphanumeric characters. For example, the Canon PIXMA G1220 printer uses the ink bottle that has the model code of Canon GI-21, which comes in black, cyan magenta, and yellow.
Can I use a different brand of ink in my Canon printer?
Yes and no. Yes, if you are talking about using generic, replacement, remanufactured or compatible ink cartridges to your Canon printer, as these types of cartridges are designed to meet or exceed the OEM specifications, this means that you can get the same number of prints and print quality without paying as much compared to the original Canon cartridges. No, if you are talking about using HP, Brother, Epson, etc., type of cartridges to your Canon printer. As the cartridges for these brands will not fit and will not be recognized by your Canon printer.
