How to Install HP 61XL Cartridges?
- Make sure that the printer is turned on and load a stack of plain white paper in the paper tray.
- Open the ink cartridge access door by grasping the handles on each side of the printer.
- The HP 61XL cartridges carriage will automatically move, so make sure to wait for it to stop moving before you proceed completely.
- To release the ink cartridge, lift the plastic lid cover and gently push it until it stops, then pull the cartridge out from the printer.
- Get your new HP 61XL cartridge. Open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case it leaks as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges. Make sure to touch the black plastic part only, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color and the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Insert the HP ink cartridge to its respective slot, then put the plastic lid cover back into place.
- Close the ink cartridge access door, then try to print a test page.

- What is the difference between HP 61 and 61XL?
- In terms of size and compatibility, HP 61 and 61XL are the same. The only difference is, the HP 61 XL ink cartridges are the high yield version which has more ink so it can print more pages than the standard yield or non-XL HP 61 ink cartridges.
- Is it worth buying HP XL ink cartridges?
- Yes. Buying XL cartridges is preferred as they work the same as standard ones but can print more pages. With that being said, you don't have to purchase and install a new ink as often as you do if you are using the standard ink. Although it's a bit pricier, buying an XL ink cartridge will be cheaper in the long run, as the cost of printing per page with an XL ink is way less than the cost per page of using standard ink.

The Black cartridge work; however the color one does not. I need to return it for a replacement, or refund.
