Canon MG6821 Ink Replacement Guide

  1. Turn the printer on. Then, lower the front cover to open.
  2. Open the control panel and the paper output tray to access the ink cartridges. This will automatically move the ink cartridge carrier ready for cartridge installation. Avoid touching the print head holder to move it forcibly. Wait until the print head holder stops completely.
  3. Remove the used ink cartridge that you wish to replace. You will know which cartridge needs replacing as it will have a fast flashing light.
  4. Press the tab and pull the used cartridge out of the printer.
  5. If you are replacing multiple cartridges, do it one at a time. Do not remove multiple cartridges from the holder.
  6. Get your new CompAndSave Canon PIXMA MG6821 ink cartridge. Open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case it leaks as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges. Remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it. Make sure that you only touch the black plastic part.
  7. Insert the new Canon MG-6821 ink cartridge at a slight angle into the print head, head first. Insert it completely until it clicks into place.
  8. Close the control panel. Should a message appear on the screen click OK.
  9. Close the front cover.

    I have bought and used these cartridges a number of times since getting the printer. They work well and do display ink level unlike the HP cartridges I recently received. The ink life seems as limited as the original Canon cartridges I have bought in the past. They are a better value than the Canon OEM cartridges.
