Canon TS3100 Ink Replacement Guide
- Turn the printer on and put the document tray and tray extension back into place.
- Open the printer cover. The cartridge holder will move to the ink replacement position. Do not move or stop the print holder by touching it or forcing it to move. Allow it to settle without interruption.
- Remove the used cartridge by gently pushing it down until it snaps out of place. Then pull the cartridge out of the holder.
- Get your new CompAndSave TS3100 Canon ink cartridge, and open it over a sink or garbage can to avoid any mess in case it leaks, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill ink cartridges. Make sure to touch the black plastic part only, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
- Insert the new Canon PIXMA TS3100 ink cartridge into its respective slot at a slight angle and push the cartridge in and up until it clicks into place.
- Close the cover.

Canon 245 black ink cartridges and Canon 246 tri-color ink cartridges are used in the Canon PIXMA TS3100 printer. It is also compatible with the high-yield ink cartridges Canon 245XL black and Canon 246XL tri-color. These high-yield ink cartridges contain more ink and can print more pages than the standard version. What is the difference between Canon ink 245 and 245XL?
When it comes to size, appearance, and printer compatibility, they're practically the same. The only difference is the number of pages they can print. The standard-yield Canon PG-245 can only print up to 180 pages at 5% page coverage, while the high-yield Canon PG-245XL can print up to 300 pages at 5% page coverage.
Can I use 240XL instead of 245?
The short answer is no, Canon PG-240 or PG-240XL have different fittings and printer compatibility with Canon PG-245XL. Installing a Canon PG-245XL to a printer that uses Canon PG-240 or vice-versa will not be recognized by the printer and might cause some issues. So make sure to only install the ink cartridge intended or designed for your printer.
