Okidata MC573dn Toner Cartridge Replacement Guide

  1. Lift the printer's scanner assembly.
  2. Press the cover release button, then fully open the output tray.
  3. Release the toner cartridge that needs to be replaced by turning the blue lever in your direction. Carefully lift the toner cartridge at the right side, then pull it out of the printer.
  4. Get your new CompAndSave Oki MC573dn toner cartridge. Open the cartridge over a sink or garbage can to avoid any messes in case of a powder leak, as sometimes, factories tend to overfill toner cartridges. Shake the toner cartridge five to six times and avoid touching the bottom part of the toner, then remove the covering tape that is usually bright in color as well as the plastic protective case, if there is, before installing it.
  5. Carefully align and insert the new toner cartridge to its left side first, then insert the right side.
  6. Once the cartridge is firmly seated in place, turn the blue lock lever back to its original position.
  7. Close the printer's output tray and lower the scanner assembly.

Okidata MC573dn Toner Cartridges FAQs

Why is toner so expensive?

OEM ink and toner manufacturers claim that the high cost of toner cartridges is due to the research and development of technologies to deliver high-quality ink and toner. However, it is worth noting that there are generic cartridges that exceed OEM requirements while being less expensive than their counterparts. CompAndSave's compatible and replacement ink and toner cartridges are engineered to meet or exceed OEM standards. That is to say; you can have the same print quality and page output without spending a fortune. Please keep in mind that using generic, remanufactured, or replacement cartridges will never void the warranty on your printer. Are toner cartridges cheaper than ink cartridges?

In terms of cost-per-page, laser toner cartridges are cheaper compared to regular inkjet cartridges. This is because toner cartridges are designed for office or business use which requires a large amount of printing on a daily basis, while inkjet cartridges are mainly for small office or home use. A toner cartridge can print up to 1,000 to 45,000 pages depending on their yield, while regular inkjet cartridges can only print from 100 to 1000 pages. So with that being said, a toner cartridge can be way cheaper compared to regular ink in the long run.

What is the difference between original and compatible toner cartridges?

OEM or Original Equipment Manufactured cartridges are toner cartridges that are made by the same company that manufactured the printer. Compatible toner cartridges, on the other hand, are produced and filled by third-party companies. The parts used are brand new and are not recycled from OEM toner cartridges. The same procedure applies to compatible ink cartridges. Both provide the same quality of printouts, but the compatibles may surpass the OEM and are sold at a much lower price.
