Why do Many Printers Come Without a USB Cable?

Many printers come without a USB cable for one or two reasons:

  1. The purchased USB printer may be a replacement for an old USB printer. The manufacturer might choose not to include a USB cable under the assumption that the buyer may still have the old printer's USB cable.
  2. Another reason, printer manufacturers may choose not to include a USB cable in the printer purchase so that it can be bought separately. The advantage to this one is that you can choose affordable quality USB cables.

If you decide to purchase a USB cable, you will need to check the type of connection your printer uses. Here is a guide to help you identify the different types of USB ports and connectors
