What do I do if the nozzle on my printer is clogged and won't print?

After a lot of use, your inkjet printer's printhead nozzles may become blocked with dried ink.

The first thing you can do is initiate a cleaning cycle and add drops of 91% isopropyl alcohol if needed

If the steps above does not work, you may need to manually clean the printhead out of the printer.

  1. To do this, properly uninstall the printhead from the printer.
  2. Remove the nozzle from the printer and place it in a shallow dish of 91% isopropyl alcohol. This type of alcohol is effective in breaking down ink clogs without disintegrating the printhead-installed cartridge's sponge component.
  3. Soak it overnight, then dry it with a lint-free cloth. Once it is completely dry, set it back into place.

To prevent this in the future, be sure to run your printer model's printhead cleaning feature as often as the printer's user manual recommends.
