TROUBLESHOOT: Why is my printer still indicating my ink is low after replacing the cartridge?

Your inkjet printer may not recognize the correct ink level because the printer memory still contains the level of your previous, empty ink cartridge. To resolve this, try these steps:

  1. Turn off your inkjet printer and remove all printer cartridges.
  2. Unplug the printer from it's power source for 5 minutes.
  3. Plug in the printer, replace the cartridges, and power on your printer.

For HP 90x/95x/97x printer series, we now have the HP printer firmware downgrade page available for the step-by-step guide on how to roll your printer back to its default HP printer setup.
